Custom Fields

A custom field is a message board where you can post comments to individual people in your program. You can use them to communicate about specific topics (e.g., an upcoming examination or conference) or the program in general. Depending on how you set them up, students, residents, faculty and/or administrators can access your comments through a link in their eDossiers.

To create a new custom field:

1 Click the Setup tab.

2 Click the Custom Fields link. A list of all the custom fields that have been created in your program appears.

3 Click "create new field".

4 In the New Field box, type a name for the field (UBC Conference) and select the checkboxes beside the groups of people who should be able to view it.

5 Click the Submit button.

To add a comment to a custom field:

1 Open the individual's eDossier from your Rolodex.

2 Click the Personal Info tab.

3 Click the "custom fields" link.

4 Click "edit" below the name of the field (e.g., UBC Conference).

5 Type your comment and click the Submit button.

Your comment appears in the custom field.
